Dear WWE Creative,

I know it’s been a lil while since I’ve done one of these but WrestleMania is right around the bend and I feel it’s my civic duty to lay out exactly what I’d do heading into and coming out of the Super Bowl of wrestling. I’m also aware that I subscribe to a slightly different method of storytelling than the current slate of WWE writers. I certainly do not care. I feel I fall somewhere between what we have now and what we used to see from the wrasslin down south of the late-80’s. So having said that, here’s what I would run with for the next few months with the WWE roster.
First I have to acknowledge what I feel about the current Randy Orton angle. I think it’s great that they’ve elevated him to top heel status. He’s got more heat than the MacMahon family right now. That’s pretty impressive. However, I think they missed the boat with this insanity angle. I get that it means he can flip out on anyone at any time. But I much rather they run with the notion that he’s a ruthless animal, fully knowledgeable of what he’s doing at all times. Seeing how as the decision has already been made, I’ll go with what creative has set in motion.
At No Way Out, Rando steps in the ring with Shane-O-Mac. I’d put Randy so far over Shane that it’s an embarrassment. Pillar to post, Randy destroys Shane. In a fit of rage, Randy has Legacy come out to put the finishing touches on Shane. Some faces from the back emerge and put an end to the malarkey. I suppose that Cryme Tyme makes the most sense. Then on Monday you have John Cena come out, address Orton and begin their dance toward WM25.

You’ve now set up this lil feud between Legacy and CTC (as those three were calling themselves) and they can dance around one another until April. Orton and Cena have the means to now be directly involved with one another, but they don’t have to physically touch until the PPV draws near. Bonus point for having CTC capture gold from Carlito and Primo mid-March. Then having a CT vs. Legacy match at WM25 and bring the Primo Brothers into the fray, as they are legacies as well.
As you have no doubt noticed, I’m conceding victory in the Chamber to John Cena. This match serves as an opportunity to build alliances and feuds. I hate the idea of Mickey Rourke being involved in WM, so I’d start a Jericho/Mysterio program in this match to run through WM. These two have followed so closely one another’s path to this date (ECW, WCW, WWE - improbable and impressive champion reigns), it seems to make sense to have them with a clearly defined heel/face match at WM. At the end of this match, as Cena is struggling to fend off the other last man standing, Chris Jericho, Orton comes down to influence the end and get the strap onto Jericho. Kofi Kingston inserts himself and he keeps the match on the up and up. Kofi is over right now, especially with the younger audience that WWE is aiming for right now. This is a good place to get him air time with Cena and have him fight the baddies, AKA Legacy.
Punk’s got the IC strap and he’s working this program with Regal. They’ve yet to announce a match for them at NWO. Reviewing the Raw roster, I don’t see anyone who makes sense for a tussle with Punk. After this thing with Regal ends, Kane would make the most sense. There has to be a means of putting Punk over. He was handed the big strap last summer and defended it thusly. Now is the time to build him properly. Enter him in a program with Kane and have them in the run up to WM25. Have them yapping at one another and in the end Punk goes over Kane in Houston, because everyone loves watching David slay Goliath. And Kane is certainly athletic enough to work a good match or two with Mr. HardcoreStraightedge. I have removed Kofi as a possibility here to keep him in line for a shot at the Money in the Bank.
That’s my take on Raw. We’re building to Orton/Cena for the Heavyweight, Cryme Tyme/Legacy for the tag straps with the Colons lurking, Kane/Punk for the IC and Jericho/Mysterio in a special grudge match at WM25. And the ensuing MiB match. Along the way, there’s this elephant in the room of the dividing factions on Monday Night. Pretty defined line as to who’s what. You have the guys towing the company line and the guys whose fathers worked for Vinnie Mac who feel invincible to his tyranny. I’ll be back soonly with an update as to what I’d do on SmackDown!.
